TE Connectivity Raychem EPKJ-0144 Heat-Shrinkable Cable Joint Kit
Based on the low voltage multi core inline splicing architecture from the Raychem EPKJ series design documentation, this product is a Raychem EPKJ 0144 heat shrinkable straight inline splicing kit manufactured by TE Connectivity.
This heavy duty, maximum capacity industrial kit is engineered to insulate, seal, and mechanically protect ultra large low voltage 4 core polymer cables with conductor cross sections ranging from 185 mm2 to 300 mm2. It is optimized for cross linked polyethylene (XLPE) or PVC insulated electrical utility networks that integrate mechanical steel wire armor (SWA), tape armoring, or aluminum strip armor. The system fully restores the structural integrity of heavy gauge mainline feeds, creating an absolute watertight environmental barrier suitable for underground direct burial, exposed outdoor cable trays, or un derwater installations.
Key Features
-
Layer by Layer Insulation Restoration: Supplied with high dielectric heat shrinkable inner core tubes that slide directly over each large line conductor. Once shrunk, they completely rebuild the primary phase insulation layer over the heavy duty crimp or mechanical blocks.
-
Integrated Hot Melt Adhesive System: The inner walls of the critical protective components are pre coated with a high performance thermoplastic adhesive sealant. When heat is applied, this adhesive flows into core valleys and onto the outer jacket boundaries, curing into an absolute moisture proof seal that blocks water tracking.
-
Heavy Duty Armor Grounding Continuity: Features a robust copper or galvanized steel grounding framework paired with continuous force metal spring bands. This ensures a low resistance earth continuity path across the severed armored wire layers, preserving full ground fault protection.
-
Thick Walled Outer Protective Casing: Includes a resilient, heavy wall cross linked polyolefin outer sleeve. This outer sheath is highly resistant to impact forces, sharp punctures, chemical splash zones, and heavy drag abrasion on the job site.
-
Subterranean Chemical Immunity: Engineered to resist continuous exposure to soil alkalis, common industrial solvents, fungal attacks, and moisture rot, maximizing the operational lifespan of buried mainline utility runs.
